We will use the command prompt for this purpose. Follow the given method to uninstall edge:
- Right-Click on the Microsoft Edge browser on the desktop and hit on Open file location.
- Here, click on the edge version folder like below:
Microsoft Edge version may be different in your case, you just have to open that folder.
- Navigate to Installer folder.
- Here, click on the directory bar and copy the path.
You can manually navigate to the directory of Microsoft in the drive where you have installed windows 10 and copy the path.
- Now, open command prompt as an administrator.
- Type cd, hit space, paste the path, and press enter you just copied like below:
- Now, copy the below command, paste it to the cmd, and hit enter:
setup.exe --uninstall --system-level --verbose-logging --force-uninstall- Congrats! Microsoft Edge browser has been removed from your computer.
How to Prevent Windows 10 not to Update Edge Again?

Now, I will guide you how to prevent to this situation. Again, there are many ways but I will show you simple method.
We will change windows registry but you have to follow steps very carefully since it can be risky if you make other amendments in registry. So, you have to be careful.
Follow the steps expressed below:
- Open Notepad and copy paste the following code in notepad file carefully:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\EdgeUpdate]
“DoNotUpdateToEdgeWithChromium”=dword:00000001- Save that file with name “BlockEdge.reg” on desktop.
You must enter name in double quotations. BlockEdge is the name of file, and .reg is the extension. Name can be anything but extension must be the same.
- You will see registry file on desktop like below:
If you don’t see file like above then, you have made mistake in saving file with correct syntax.
- Now, double-click on that registry file.
- It will show you warning, just click on Yes like below:
- That’s it.
Now, windows 10 will never update Microsoft Edge to the chromium version. Finally, you have get rid of edge from your windows 10 i.e. removed it from your computer.
